Steve Wolcott

Steve Wolcott

Picking up the spey rod 4 years ago, Steve has found a new love for chasing steelhead. His tying skills are well advertised from tying intruders, tubes, and traditional spey patterns.

When he is not chasing steelhead with his two handed rod, you will find Steve on the flats of the Great Lakes in pursuit of carp or drifting down the beautiful rivers of Ontario chasing smallmouth bass.

Steve will be tying up some of his favourite patterns during the Clave that are proven to work on Ontario's rivers.

Jin Lee

Jin Lee

Jin Lee (aka whiskygin) started fishing back in Korea his native land in 1977. He migrated to Canada in 1987 and took up to fly fishing with the bamboo single hand trout rod followed by Double Handed Spey rods which he has been doing this for the past 11 years.

Self thought Jin is an accomplished single and double hand caster and a renowned angler well known on his home waters "the Credit River." He has spent over two decades perfecting his technique in both casting and tying flies. He has taught many anglers the art of fly and spey fishing and favours the traditional methods of fishing with a fly on a bamboo rod or the double handed rods. He enjoys the Double Handed Spey casting favouring the traditional more long belly lines with a 85 to 90 feet head.

His passion however is in tying flies which he has been doing for 22 years- starting with trout flies and finally graduating to traditional classic salmon flies. His creativity combined with his grasp of classic salmon flies has resulted in his own unique pattern creations which have proven highly successful in capturing many big Brown trout, Steelhead as well as Atlantic Salmon.

Most recently he was a guest tyre at the Izaak Walton Fly Fishing Club featuring traditional classic patterns. He is a highly accomplished tyre particularly in feather wing with a special emphasis on the married wing classic patterns which he is renowned for.

Joe Penich

Joe Penich

Joe Penich is known by many as one of the most innovative flytyers in Canada. A testament to this is the number of custom fly orders he ties each year for guides and shops. Joe Has also guided professionally and hosts trips to the Niagara River in the spring and fall each year for steelhead and salmon. He is the resident steelhead specialist and Joe's experience catching these elusive fish with his own variation of techniques is supported by the number of steelhead landed and released each year. Joe's clients end each trip with a wealth of ideas and new techniques for fly fishing steelhead or salmon and a healthy respect for the fight of these great fish.

In 2005 Joe won gold medal in the FQSA fly tying championship in the multi composite catagory (with a fly called Jacquelin,s Espirit, after his daughter). And in 2006 in the Mustad Scandinavian Open he won a silver medal in the saltwater catagory.
